Tweeple Cannot Get Over The Viral Pink Sauce By Tiktoker And Chef Carly Pii

Carly Pii is a Miami-based private chef and a TikToker who goes by the handle @chef.pii. She introduced a strange concoction in June, posting videos of herself dousing her food with what she called “pink sauce.” She smothered a drumstick, shrimp, and tacos in the ketchup-like sauce— and straight-up licked it out of a glass container, delighting in the repulsive excess seen in viral food videos with “sploshing” fetish content.
This pink sauce thing is really motivating me to pursue my dreams, because clearly y’all will do and buy anything.

The sauce is available in a variety of colours, from pale pink to Barbie hot pink. The flavour has been likened to ranch dressing, however, the main flavouring ingredients are said to include dragon fruit, sunflower seed oil, chile, honey, and garlic. Pii claims it is edible and natural and she’s charging $20 per bottle. However, the TikToker said that the negativity is becoming a bit much. However, she said that she is fine and only the strong survive.

The Pink sauce debate has spread from TikTok to Twitter, and it has created havoc, to say the least. People have questioned the validity of Pii’s recipe and criticised her misspelt ingredients, angel-numbered nutrition labels, refrigerator directions, shipping methods, and food safety protocols. People are expecting to have stomach issues as a result of what appears to be a series of bad choices. One customer who claimed to have received the sauce said that it smelt rotten.

Food influencers have been chastised for dangerous recipes before, for example, Bon Appétit’s Brad Leone, who was accused of putting his audience at risk of botulism. Food safety is shouldn’t be taken lightly as the harm that unregulated food can inadvertently cause can be fatal. However, there is no evidence that the Pink Sauce is unsafe, nor are there any reports of anyone falling sick after eating it. A few TikTokers have urged Pii to be more cautious, but the thousands of TikToks and tweets about pink sauce from the general public have not shown the same courtesy.

Pii told BuzzFeed News that like any business, she is on a trial and error process. She added that she wants to show her customers that she cares about their health and doesn’t want to endanger them. Pii had fewer than 1,000 TikTok followers before her pink sauce posts went viral which is too little to even Livestream. She now has 50,000 followers, which pales in contrast to the millions of views and posts inspired by the pink sauce. She started posting diet and weight loss videos on YouTube four years ago, but none of them has gotten more than a couple of hundred views.

Pii added that the pink sauce turned into a product overnight but she wasn’t able to articulate her idea for it. She said she is not an influencer and TikTok had no idea who she was before this. In one video, she states that hers is a small business that is growing and moving fast. She said that she follows FDA guidelines and is now undergoing laboratory testing. She claimed that having so many people label her a scammer has been difficult, but she is determined to overcome it and produce the greatest product possible.
