Suspended BJP Leader Nupur Sharma Complains Of Receiving Death Threats Over Controversial Prophet Remarks

The recent controversial statement of BJP leader and spokesperson Nupur Sharma about Prophet Muhammad was heavily criticised. Even her own party did not back up her remarks and also suspended her from the party. The BJP leader’s insensitive remark on National television deeply hurt the Muslim sentiments and also led to extreme violence in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. It is sad to see personalities who hold important positions associating themselves in arguments or debates which hold absolutely no worth in society. However, Nupur Sharma did come forward to extend her due apologies on the issue. But according to the recent update in the news, Nupur has been getting death threats for the remarks and the leader has also filed a complaint about the same.

The suspended BJP spokesperson has claimed that she is allegedly being threatened by some unidentified people over the remarks she made. Nupur Sharma has also filed a police complaint against those people in Delhi. The BJP leader’s statement became a reason for the violence that took place in Kanpur. According to news reports, more than 40 people were injured in the riot and the police have charged over 1,500 people for the same. Clearly, Nupur Sharma’s apology made no difference, but now the leader is allegedly facing a life-threatening situation that should be looked into by the Delhi Police.

The BJP spokesperson’s remarks were also not well-received by the Gulf countries. The remarks have been strongly criticized by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and Iran. Bahrain and atar summoned the Indian envoy to express their discontent. The action taken by the BJP against Nupur  Sharma has also been appreciated by the two countries.
