Northeast Girl Brought To Goa On Pretext Of Job, Confined, And Raped

Are you even friends if you’ve not made one failed Goan plan?  I have always heard people making plans to go to Goa. But since the last few days, Goa has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. Starting with two minor girls gang-raped in Benaulim and then the Goa CM Pramod Sawant making irrational statements about how minors should not stay out late at night. And the latest news is about a northeastern girl brought there on the pretext of a job and then confined and raped for 3 days.

Recently, after two days of the case where two minor girls were gang-raped in Benaulim came to light, another incident came out – wherein a girl from northeast India was brought to Quepem, Goa on the pretext of a job. And according to the reports, this is the third rape case that was reported to the state police in the last few days.

The police have identified Shambhunath Sing from Delhi and Sudhakar Naik from South Goa as the two accused. According to the state police, they brought the girl under the pretext of a job on the 26th of July, and later confined her and repeatedly raped her for 3 days.

The girl who was confined and raped by the two accused, managed to escape from the flat on Thursday. From there on she directly called the police control room and filed a complaint against the two. The complaint was registered under sections 376 (rape) and 343 (wrongful confinement) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

It is so sad to hear that the brutality and physical abuse against women is increasing with every passing day in this country. Strict actions need to be taken against these men who think that they can get away after raping a woman. Rape is a serious crime that really needs to be taken more seriously by the police and the judicial system.
