Nikhat Zareen Boxes Her Way To Women’s World Boxing Championship 2022 Finals, Manisha And Parveen Bring Home Bronze!

On one hand, where India has officially been announced as a ‘Country Of Honour’ at the Cannes Film Market, 2022, we already have another victory coming our way. India’s Nikhat Zareen has qualified for the finals of the World’s Boxing Championships, 2022. We can’t keep calm!

The 12th edition of the IBA Boxing World’s Championship is taking place in Istanbul, Turkey. The 52kg semi-finals took place on Tuesdays between Nikhat Zareen and Brazil’s Carolina De Almeida. Nikhat defeated Carolina for a 5-0 win by a unanimous decision in the semi-finals. Nikhat Zareen will be facing Thailand’s Jutamas Jitpong for the finals.
We already have three confirmed medals in Boxing by our extremely talented women boxers. Manisha Moun won the bronze medal as she could not qualify for the 57kg semi-finals. Parveen Hooda also finished with a bronze medal in the 63kg round. Manisha Moun lost to Italy’s Irma Test and Parveen Hooda was defeated by Ireland’s Amy Sara Broadhurst. We are more than proud of both our girls!
Now we have high hopes from Nikhat Zareen. Nikhat hails from Nizamabad, Telangana and has been quite impressive in her previous matches. To tell you, India performed best in the Boxing World Championship, 2006 when we returned home with eight medals. It had four gold, one silver, and three bronze medals. Also till now, the Indian boxers have earned 36 medals for the country in the past editions of the tournament.

The bronze medalist of the 2019 Asian Championship, Nikhat Zareen has a good chance of of winning gold this time, we are sure hoping that. The finals of the tournament will be played on Thursday, May 19 and Friday, May 20. All the best Nikhat!
