Since winter is here, all we want to do is cozy up and binge-watch Netflix, and we know you feel the same. Well, almost on cue, Netflix has come up with some absolutely brilliant shows this year! From thriller to drama, we’ve curated the 9 best shows of the season. Be it teen drama or sci-fi horror, there is something for everyone. Go on, check out this list; you can thank us later.

1. The Sinner

The Sinner follows the story of a young mother, played by Jessica Biel, trying to figure out the cause of her violent tendencies, after she stabs a stranger on his neck, while enjoying a perfectly pleasant day.

It’s an adaptation of the 1999 German novel by the same name. If rumours are to be believed, the show will likely become the most popular series of 2017. However, people are seemingly finding it difficult to complete even a single episode thanks to the gore.

2. Strangers Things (Season 2)

In the second season of Stranger things, set in Hawkins in the fall of 1984, supernatural forces continue to affect the town once again. Featuring the first season’s core cast and a few new characters, Season 2 shows them embarking on a breathtaking new adventure, as the freakish hell known as the ‘Upside Down’ unleashes a whole new threat on their small town.

3. Riverdale (Season 2)

Riverdale, based on the Archies Comics characters, is a teen drama-mystery series. The first season saw the murder of a beloved classmate, leading to the opening up of secrets and scandals lurking under the seemingly exquisite town of Riverdale.

Season 2 is finally here, and it’s supposedly more mysterious than ever. The Jason Blossom mystery has been solved, but there are plenty more crimes surrounding the main characters, Archie and Betty’s love, life and high school.


4. Mindhunter

If you’re a fan of crime and serial killer dramas, Mindhunter is for you. The Netflix original series that premiered in October is adapted from the non-fiction book by the same title. The story revolves around a legendary figure in the FBI’s Serial Crime Unit. Holden Ford portrays the character of John Douglas, a special agent for the FBI in the 1970s, attempting to understand the damaged psyche of the serial killers, in an attempt to catch them.

5. American Vandal

With true crime series gaining much popularity, American Vandal tells the story of the aftermath of a high school prank gone wrong with 27 faculty cars tagged and vandalised with obscene images. An aspiring sophomore documentarian from the school tries to investigate whether the accused senior was responsible or not. It’s the perfect show to binge-watch if you’re in the mood for true satire.

6. Daredevil

Daredevil is the first of the many Marvel-Netflix partnerships and is based on the Marvel characters of the same name. It shows the adventures of Matt Murdock played by Charlie Cox, who is a blind lawyer by day and masked vigilante by night. As Murdock fights crime in his spare time in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City, he uncovers a conspiracy of criminal underworld, With impressive performances,amazing martial arts action, Daredevil has surely set the bar for Marvel’s Netflix offerings.

7. The Defenders

The Defenders features Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist teaming up to protect the city of New York. The story revolves around these four figures who are burdened with their own personal challenges, but soon realize they will be able to accomplish their goals together, rather than if they work solo. If you’re a fan of Marvel’s Netflix shows, and want to see your favourite fighters team up to defend the city, start watching this show now!

8. American Crime

American Crime was nominated for, and won, several Emmys over the course of its three seasons on air, so it’s a must-watch for sure. It is an anthology crime drama series, created by John Ridley. With every season set in different parts of the country, American Crime revolves around race, class, gender and politics.

9. Narcos (Season 3)

This Netflix original series shows the rise and fall of real-life drug king Pablo Escobar. This series is a documentary of sorts and very true-to-life. The first two seasons concentrate on Pablo Escobar, while the third season follows the story of the infamous Cali Cartel. In case you’re new to the show, make sure to avoid the spoilers!
