My mother is 52 years old and in an attempt to keep up with the changing times, especially in the digital space, she has her accounts made on almost all of social media platforms. From Facebook to Snapchat and even Instagram, there is no place she doesn’t want to stay connected with me on. And yes, I know how it’s all a ruse to keep a tab on me. But even then, her Instagram game isn’t as strong and I don’t blame her. Hell, I am 23, I’m a millennial who is up to date with all the recent trends and even my insta game isn’t really good. But clearly age doesn’t matter here. Because Neena Gupta, the veteran actress who is 60 years old is the real OG here, and her style and insta game areboth stronger than a new age millennial.
Neena Gupta, who is celebrated for her powerful roles and her acting, is one of the very few who has managed to stay relevant in the industry despite it being sexist and ageist at the same time. And one reason for it, as we have figured out, is by being ahead of the curve and always bringing her A game to the floor, be it in movies, appearances, interviews or even with her social media.

Posting a picture of her regal and beautiful self in a mesmerising blue saree, Neena captioned it saying “After the Frock”, that is a reference to her own previous post, where she had sported a frock and said “Frock ka Shock”. The catch here was how efficiently and well she could pull of both these outfits with equal ease. We would be fumbling in both.

If only we could look half as good as she does at this age, we’d call ourselves social media stars. In fact, this won’t be the first time that the Badhaai Ho actress has nailed her looks or her gram-game. She has earlier too, at numerous occasions juggled remarkably well between traditional Indian and indo-western looks, courtesy her own daughter Masaba Gupta who is a known designer in the industry. And then there is my mother, who accidentally ends up tagging the wrong people in comments, or sometimes even using emojis that mean entirely different things from what she wants to say.
