Naina Redhu, One Of The Firsts To Join Twitter In India, Gives Her Views On Blue Tick Fees

If you ask me, I’d say that Twitter is by far one of the most powerful social networking sites out there. For a while now it has been a space wherein people could put out their opinions and have conversations about any and everything. However, after Elon Musk took over and the changes he brought around had an impact and will continue to have an impact on people who are already using the social networking platform. In fact, even Naina Redhu, who claims to be among the first to join Twitter in India, spoke about how the changes Elon Musk has made an impact – especially the blue tick service.

Naina Redhu joined Twitter in 2006 when it was launched and its name was TWTTR (code name of the social networking project). Since then, she has had a blue tick and has 1,75,000 tweets and 22,000 followers. But now, after Elon Musk’s takeover, she will have to pay for having a blue tick.

Speaking about that rule, Naina Redhu says, “I don’t feel there will be any effect because having a blue tick, in general, is not a necessity. Further, people who need it and can afford will simply buy it and the public will also not be affected. But I do feel people who work independently like in journalism and cannot afford, might be affected.”

As per reports, when asked whether she will pay for the blue tick service on Twitter, Naina Redhu said that there is no clarity regarding what the fees will be for the service in India. She also said that she is unsure of what the meaning of the blur tick will be.

Naina Redhu also added, “It’s a private company and the reason they started giving the blue tick to users was to verify that it’s the real account of a public figure. And if I have not paid for this in the past 16 years then why should I now.” She further emphasised that the freedom of expression has nothing to do with Twitter.

Trust me when I say this, it is not just Naina Redhu who is worried about how Elon Musk’s takeover. A lot of people and celebs have come out and spoken about how his changes are going to change things – and most are predicting the worst.
