Mission Mangal’s New Trailer Couldn’t Have Come At A Better Time, Rides The Patriotism Wave

I have a love hate relationship going on with Bollywood it seems. Especially with the contrasting set of movies that it has been doling out, from the pain-inflicting Kabir Singh to the mind numbing Student of the Year 2, I’d almost lost my faith in the industry to mint out something I’d be able to ever enjoy. But then came Mission Mangal with its more than fascinating and gripping trailers, and I was back in the game. More so, with the trailer they’ve released and hit us right with the patriotic feels.

The movie Mission Mangal, that is based on India’s first ever inter-galactic space mission to Mars, has been in the news ever since its first poster look dropped. Yes, the poster received quite some flak for Akshay Kumar overshadowing the team of actresses, but they more than made up for it with their teasers and trailers, that weren’t just laced with the brilliant comic timing of ace actor Akshay Kumar, but also moved us with the riveting performance of the female cast, who can be seen pulling off their roles with aplomb.

So naturally, when the second trailer of the movie released today, I jumped, it was time to get another taste of the movie that is being touted as the biggest movie of the year. The new trailer, takes us through the idea of going to Mars floating around the Indian Space Research Organisation until Vidya Balan, the project director and Akshay Kumar,  finally set up a team of incredible women including Taapsee Pannu, Kriti Kulkarni and Nithya Menen and Sharman Joshi to prep for one of the greatest space missions.

The trailer depicts the hardships, the inhibitions, the brainstorming and finally the coming together of everyone in the belief that India can take this leap ahead. This was had us all in the feels – the trailer is infused with a sense of curiosity and pride – for belonging to a nation that literally reached new and greater heights, thanks to the women in ISRO.
