Yepp, I’m talking about your periods. Travelling when on your period can be exhausting and annoying at the same time. Just when you’re all excited and in your pre-vacay mode, period cramps come as a buzz kill and that’s not all. They make it so much more difficult for one to travel in peace or enjoy a vacay, no thanks to the constant dampness and discomfort among other things. But the one thing that usually becomes a major concern is travelling and maintaining menstrual hygiene at the same time. Ahead of the World Menstrual Hygiene Day, we’ve listed some tips and tricks to keep it all clean while you travel on your periods.
1. Emergency Kit
Always carry an emergency kit with an extra of everything from clothes to panties to intimate wipes to pads. It’s always good to be prepared for any disasters that may happen. And you totally don’t want to walk around with stained panties and clothes or with a pad that’s already full or makes you feel icky or damp.
2. Heating Pad/Pain Relief Patch
Period cramps can be a total buzz kill and you don’t want the pain to come in the way of fun. And if painkillers aren’t your thing, make sure to carry a heating pad or a pain relief patch when you step out of your home.
3. Period Panties/Cup
You never know when pads may give you a dhoka so, it’s best to carry a backup or wear it. Carry a pair of period panties or a menstrual cup for damage control in case your pad leaks. You can also wear period panties as a backup.

4. Intimate Wash
Using public toilets and having to change your pad in a loo that isn’t your own can be extremely uncomfortable. This is why it is essential that you carry an intimate wash to clean up your vagina if and when you need to change your pad or your cup. And in case of an emergency, you can always use your intimate wash to clean your cup.
5. Disposal Bags
If you’re a pad user, carrying a disposal bag is extremely important when you’re travelling, especially for a vacay. You don’t want to be stuck in a situation where you have to struggle to find a disposal bag to throw away a used pad in a sanitized manner.
