Meet Menaka, The Sole Woman Fighting For The LGBTQ Community In Supreme Court
She’s perhaps one of the loudest voices in speaking for the LGBTQ community in India, and she’s everything we need in the Supreme Court right now. Meet Menaka Guruswamy, the sole woman in an all-male team who has taken up the cudgels on behalf of the LGBTQ community in the Supreme Court. The only other woman there is Indu Malhotra, the only woman justice in the five-member Supreme Court bench.

Before she made her arguments, she tweeted about the issue of Section 377, calling it a colonial stain and how it was time for Section 377 to go. While this argument is why we know her now, she is constantly taking up issues that affect the country, particularly the representation of women in media.
With the Constitution in our hearts, we go to our Court, to seek to remove a colonial stain on our collective national conscience. Section 377 your time has come. See you in Court on Tuesday. #section377 @chefritudalmia #iitiansagainst377 @arundhatikatju @barandbench
