Man Sends Divorce Papers To Wife Because She Gained Weight. What Will It Take For Men To Accept Women As They Are?

It was so convenient for a man to shame his wife for gaining weight? Unfortunately, in our Indian society, husband shaming wives for various things, especially body, face, and weight is a very casual occurrence. In fact, it is not even given that much importance or thought as to how could it affect the woman. However, in a case that has reportedly happened in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, a man took extreme steps to disrespect his wife and ill-treat her as if she meant nothing. As per the reports, the man has abandoned his wife on grounds that she gained weight after marriage.

The case was reported from Meerut where a woman named Nazma went through immense pressure and insult by his husband only because she did not weigh the same after marriage. Nazma was thrown out of her own how a month ago and has been currently living with her parents. Not only this, her husband later sent divorce papers too to her parent’s house. Nazma and her husband, Salman have been married for eight years now, and have a seven-year-old kid as well. Such inhumane occurrences in Nazma’s life were the first time, as per news, that her husband regularly hit her and called her derogatory remarks because of her weight. Going by reports on the same, the wife still wishes to reunite with her husband but as of now, this case has not been registered at the police station.

Such a narrow-minded thought process exists in our society, and it is deeply rooted. Men want their wives to always look beautiful and often make comparisons with other women too. This can cause severe stress to women, however, men fail to understand this. In Meerut’s case, the situation is worse, no one should ever be given the right to treat a woman like this.
