Ludhiana Man Wants Divorce From 3rd Wife, Says She Isn’t A Woman

We have seen multiple weddings taking place in this pandemic. And because these things happen, we have also heard of a lot of people filing for divorce. And out of all the reasons for getting a divorce, I have heard quite a few bizarre reasons that I don’t am not even sure qualify as a valid reason. Like this one. A Ludhiana man has claimed that his 3rd wife was not a woman. Say what now!?

Recently, on Saturday, a man in Ludhiana approached the police stating that he wanted to divorce his 3rd wife because according to him, she is not a ‘woman.’ He also demanded to book her and her entire family for cheating him.

The man had approached the police officers and counsellors present at the Ludhiana police commissionerate’s mega camp at Shri Ram Park in Rishi Nagar – told them that they got married 11 months ago and three days after he realized that the wife had a physical deformity. And that made it impossible for them to consummate their marriage. This is the reason for him filing a divorce.

Nine days after their marriage, the wife returned to her parent’s house. After the death of her first husband, the wife married this man. And after him filing the complaint, she followed suit and lodged a dowry harassment case against him. Both of them are seeking a divorce.

Now that the police heard both sides of the divorce case, they have asked the woman to get medically examined by a panel of 3 doctors at a civil hospital. The counselor Surjit Bhagat who is handling the case said that it is one of the most unique cases he has ever come across. He even added, “We are counseling both parties to opt for mutual settlement. Both families knew each other for two decades.”

And truth to be said, it is definitely one of the most interesting divorce cases I have seen. This is one of those cases where I’d want to read till the end to know what happens. And it just makes me realize how different people are and how many different perspectives a single person can hold.
