In the video, all the relatives and attendants start clapping as soon as the groom goes down on his knees and bows his head. Even the bride is happily surprised and with a smile on her face puts the garland around his neck.

It really has become a trend for grooms to kneel in front of their brides during their varmala ceremony as a sign of respect. And as sweet as the gesture is from the groom’s side, I have always loved it especially more when even the bride falls to her knees in front of the bride to show that she respects him too. That is what a relationship is all about. Both the people in a relationship need to respect each other because it is only then that the relationship will work and a balance will take place.
