These are difficult times. And you look for respite. The falling number of COVID cases is a cause for celebration. I have been religiously following the numbers in Maharashtra and Mumbai and every time the caseload comes down, I feel like there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Because honestly, things were looking very grim and bleak and our mental health was in shambles. So every piece of good news needs to be celebrated. A doctor dancing in a COVID ward to make patients feel better? Let’s talk about it. Let’s amplify that also. So when we saw this picture of an elderly woman who had recently overcome COVID, we want to talk about that too.

The picture that has now gone viral was taken at Calcutta Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. It was shared on social media by Tanmoy Dey, who, from what we gather, was not related to the patient or the doctor in the picture. He wrote the caption in Bengali, saying, “Since the last 10 days, this 75-year-old grandmother who was battling Covid-19 at the Calcutta Medical College recovered and went back home. While going, she hugged a doctor who had also fought against the virus with her and showered love and blessings on her. What can be a more beautiful photo than this? Photos like these provide inspiration against such battles.”
