Kangana Ranaut Says No Woman-Centric Film Had An Impact As Great As Manikarnika

In most cases, spending a significant amount of time around a person would mean that you can associate them with an adjective that best describes their personality. My boyfriend, for instance, is a drama queen. I, on the other hand, am an emotional fool. My bestfriend, is a preacher, and while we’re on the topic, Kangana Ranaut is plain annoying. At the cost of making this sound personal (which, I assure you it is not), Kangana Ranaut from once being regarded as one of the finest actresses in Bollywood, is now being recognise only by her annoying antics, like the one she’s pulled off recently.

In a tweet that has made us cringe harder than the last episode of Game Of Thrones, Kangana Ranaut took a stroll down the memory lane to mull over her movie Manikarnika, and in a rather immodest way, she ended up praising her own work. She wrote, “Thank you …. never in cinemas a woman centric film caused such an impact…”We…erm…Kangana?

A seemingly harmless statement, although one dipped in hypocrisy, she followed it by writing, “I am sure Thalaivi, Dhakaad, Tejas will continue the tradition… love to all my fans.” You see, what really got our goat here is how easily Kangana Ranaut, who is famous for taking offence when no one recognises her wok, dismissed all other women centric movies that are making a makr in Bollywood.

Oscillating between the role of the boy who cried wolf, to that of a braggart, Kangana has yet again chosen to take a cheap, unsolicited dig at the actors from the industry by disregarding their work in front of her own. And this kind of an attitude, where you need to pull someone else down to put yourself on a higher pedestal, is too shallow, even for her standards.

Not that her work in the movie Manikarnika wasn’t commendable, it was. But perhaps, it is time to get off that high horse and not slam people while you do that. Let’s not forget that movies like Mother India, Lajja, The Dirty Picture, Highway, Mardaani and a lot more, have all not just done well on the box office, but also made a great impact on the public, without taking away from any other movie’s success.

Kangana really needs to dial it down.
