Janhvi Kapoor Talks About The Advice Sridevi Gave Her Before Entering Bollywood. We Could All Use It
My mother has always been the one to remind me how ‘one must always give credit where it’s due’. Which means I must profusely thank her when she’s made some delicious food for us all or clicked a pro level picture of me after 987 tries or given me the best of advice in the world. Because we must admit, a mother knows best. A thought that Dhadak actress Janhvi Kapoor will be quick to agree with, as she shares her late mother Sridevi’s special advice from before she set foot in the industry.

Like every mother-daughter duo, Sridevi and her daughter Janhvi Kapoor had always been close to each other, giving all of us major goals for when it came to setting standards for a mom and daughter relationships. From talking to her about her well-being to even passing on some home remedies and and sharing a few ghar ke nuske to get those luscious locks and glowing skin, Sridevi was a perfect example of a caring and loving mother. And even now, after she has passed away, daughter Janhvi Kapoor thinks back to the veteran actress’s words and shares with us the advice her mother had to give when she was planning to make her debut.

Janhvi Kapoor recalled how Sridevi always asked her to keep her intentions as pure as they can be, for the camera is unforgiving in capturing things as they are. She said, “My mother would always tell me, whatever you think and carry in your heart, will show on your face. So it is important for an actor to be a good person from within because the camera captures everything.”
And we can’t argue with that. We may be able to put on layers of makeup and hide behind the facade of a character given to us, but only seldom can you escape showing your true self to the camera, no matter how hard you try. What you are, is bound to surface sooner or later, and last we checked, being a good person is an advice that can come handy to all of us. No better time to be good than present.

Currently, Janhvi Kapoor is working on Karan Johar’s upcoming release – Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, where she will be seen playing the role of the Indian Air Force officer Gunjan Saxena who played a critical role during the time of the Kargil War in 1999.
