Janhvi Kapoor Pens Down A Heartfelt Post About A Few Realisations She’s Had A Week Into Self Isolation And It’s Very Real

Humans, at least most of us, love living life in the fast lane; we seldom know how to slow down and even if we do, we aren’t sure we are ready to deal with the consequences of moving at our own leisurely pace. Living in a world where running and keeping up with everyone comes as naturally as breathing to us, especially in a country like India where with a huge population, where you’re made to feel all too replaceable all too soon. When you’re faced with a global slowdown, there are bound to be a few experiences you didn’t see coming. As we sit in a national and global lockdown, fighting the covid-19 we have on our hands, this is the most time we’ve been made to spend with is ourselves. As has been the case with Janhvi Kapoor who recently admitted that after a week of solitude, she has had numerous realisations.

Like all of us, as Bollywood too finds itself limited to the confines of their homes, I believe we’ve been given the gift of time, which people have been using for all sorts of things. Some for catching up on their sleep, and others to catch up on their feelings. Janhvi Kapoor shared how she’s been using this quarantine period to reflect on herself.

On Monday, the actress took to her social media account to share a heartfelt post that had a lot of us relating hard to what she had to say. Sharing with us a list of things she learnt in this time to herself, Janhvi captioned it, “Also learnt that I like to write… p.s. wrote this 3 days ago since we started self isolating a little before the lockdown and it had already been a week for me by then.”

The post beautifully articulated her sentiment towards herself, her family, her friends and her late mother, Sridevi. She wrote, “I’ve learnt to value the food that I eat. It’s a blessing to have things in excess and abundance the way that I do. But not knowing If our house ration will last long enough till lockdown ends, knowing someone’s risking their health every time they go to buy groceries- makes me worry in a way I’ve never had to before. Still I have it better than most in these conditions, and I’ve had it better than most do in life.. I’ve learnt I have been selfish and irresponsible.”

Talking further about her father, and how she realised he must wait for her and her sister Khushi, she wrote, “I’ve learned that my father misses me. Before lockdown, whenever he was home; he would wail for me and Khushi to come back from work or from meetings or from our friends houses to spend time with us.”

Pointing out the privilege she is living with, Janhvi also wrote, “I’ve learned that I relied on too many people for too many things, For vanity, for my health, for my entertainment. I took for granted the fact that I could travel, by foot, in a car or on a plane. All of these things are luxuries. That became daily life. That then became necessities.”

She admitted to how ironically enough it was in a state of lockdown that she felt the most liberated. And talking about her late mother, she wrote, “I’ve learnt that there are many hours In the day. I’ve learnt that I can still smell my mother in her dressing room.”

And perhaps it was for these little things that reminded us what it felt to be human in this rat race, and slow down to absorb our own feelings we have been running away for far too long now. Safe to say, Janhvi hit home with her words this time around!
