Janhvi Kapoor And Ishaan Khattar’s Dhadak Trailer Has All The Ingredients Of A Hit Bollywood Film
All eyes are on newcomers Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar, as Karan Johar’s Dharma Films dropped the trailer of the much-awaited film Dhadak. The movie is the big Bollywood debut of Janhvi Kapoor, and a mainstream debut for Ishaan.
Both Ishaan and Janhvi hail from illustrious film families, which means over-competitive Indians will be comparing the debutantes to their parents and siblings, who are successful actors already. Not just that, but the movie is also a Hindi remake of the super-hit Marathi movie Sairat. Which means the actors will be compared to the original movie as well. (No pressure!) They have also rehashed the hit song Zingat from Sairat.
The success of movies such as Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Bareilly Ki Barfi and more shows that a young love story, set against the backdrop of a small town in India, is a formula that is working for Bollywood. No wonder, Janhvi skipped the whole big ultra-glam Bollywood debut, and went for this genre instead.
The movie is set in Rajasthan, and both actors are seen speaking in colloquial lingo and accent. The performance of the actors looks powerful and promising. Packed with colourful clothes designed by Manish Malhotra, foot-tapping numbers, gorgeous locations and frames, the quintessential evil villain and a love story in place, this film has all the ingredients for a hit Bollywood film.
With millennial actors such as Ishaan and Janhvi, you’d think Bollywood would move on and let go of typical things like the lover who is a stalker, and loud violent action scenes (there is also a scene where Ishaan slaps Jhanvi), but alas, looks like Bollywood is not there yet. However, there is a ray of hope, as the trailer ends with a dialogue, where Janhvi is asking Ishaan to make rotis for her. Yay!
Dhadak is directed by Shashank Khaitan, who is also the director of the hit movies Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and is set to release on the 20th July.
