Indians Need To Use Condoms Because We’re About To Overtake China As The Most Populous Country!

India currently stands among the top 10 countries of the world with an impressive GDP and an economy that is on the rise. But maybe, in a bid to get ahead and truly be No. 1, India may have found itself racing ahead in a category no one was rooting for – population.

One thing that has always been in abundance in our country, and no we aren’t talking about unsolicited advice, are kids. Don’t get us wrong, we don’t have anything against babies. Hell, we love them! Okay love might be a strong word, so let’s just say we don’t hate them. But what we do hate is that, at the moment, the country is flooded with people even before climate change has a chance to do its thing.

So much so that the recent UN reports suggest that India is likely to outrun China and become the most populous country by 2027. China, on the other hand, along with most of Europe will be observing a decline in population by a number in millions. The report also shared that the world population is expected to reach 9.7 billion in 2050 and could peak at nearly 11 billion around 2100.

Mr. Liu Zhenmin, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs further commented that, “Many of the fastest growing populations are in the poorest countries,” and that hit bull’s eye in our context. We may be leading with a growing economy, but what good would it be if it would still fall short on resources to sustain such population explosion?!

What horrifies me more is that India is three times smaller than China in size. With all those millions projected to enter the world, we probably won’t have the space to put both our feet down at the same time. In a time like this, the least Indians can do is make use of contraception.

If only we’d enjoy using condoms as much as we enjoy watching their ads on TV, the world would be a less populated place. And maybe this could be the campaign that the people leading the nation should pick up on – free condoms and not just free metro rail tickets – because clearly the country is need of one!
