In Tamil Nadu, A Sorcerer Convinced A Couple To Sacrifice Their 6-Year-Old Daughter In Exchange For Power

My mother always told me that a person’s parents are the only people in the world who will love them unconditionally. And while it’s a beautiful sentiment, what my mother is blissfully unaware of is that this comes with exceptions. Not every family possesses this unconditional love for their children. In fact, it’s quite the opposite with some parents. They can go to extreme, monstrous lengths to harm, torture and in some cases even murder their children. Take the couple who murdered their two daughters with dumbells, for instance. Or most recently, a couple in Tamil Nadu were about to sacrifice their 6-year-old daughter on the advice of a sorcerer. What has happened to humanity?

Indians have a long history of believing in superstitions and easily giving into blind faith. It’s put numerous women and children in harm’s way. But for some reason, people just refuse to give it up. They would rather believe in sacrificing their children than believe it’s all a hoax. In the case of this couple from Tamil Nadu, a sorcerer convinced them that if they sacrifice their 6-year-old daughter, they would get immense power. It was all set. But at the end moment, the girl’s grandmother stepped in and alerted the police.

The girl’s father, R Ramesh married twice. Once to her mother, R Ranjitha and then for a second time to R Indumathi. His first wife did not object to his second marriage so all of them lived under the same roof. The girl had an older brother. According to reports, the two children were abused, made to do all the housework and even beaten up repeatedly. They had made the girl’s 15-year-old boy stop his schooling and not enrolled her in school at all.

Last year, Indumathi brought her acquaintance Dhanalakshmi to their house. She became a regular visitor and would perform odd rituals in the night dressed as Lord Shiva. In February, Dhanalakshmi told the couple that if they sacrifice the 6-year-old girl, they would become extremely powerful. This conversation was overheard by the girl’s older brother who informed their grandmother. When she confronted the girl’s father and stepmother, they abused her and sent her away. The grandmother then went to the cops and lodged a complaint.

What is wrong with people? How can you even think of human sacrifice? Let alone sacrificing a child. It’s disgusting and sickening. Hopefully, they are held accountable for their actions.
