“I Am Not Into Selling Myself”, Says Preity Zinta On Why She Has Been Away From Bollywood

Whether it was Zara from Veer Zara, Naina from Kal Ho Naa Ho or Nisha from Koi Mil Gaya, Preity Zinta has always managed to be one of our most cherished and loved actresses in the Bollywood film industry. Starting out young with a small role in Mani Ratnam’s Dil Se, her dimpled smile and acting potential was enough to garner quite a fan base and make us want to see her pick pivotal roles. Which she did, until the year 2018, which was the last time we saw Zinta on the big screen.

From once being the queen at the box office, delivering back to back hits and picking up roles that felt like were written for her, Preity Zinta saw a gradual quietening of her acting career and in an interview with SpotboyE, the actress has opened up about her fall out with the industry.

Talking about why we don’t see her on the big screen anymore, the actress shared, “I am not the kind of person who will stand up and complain about anything. I have no complaints against anyone. If I’ve been away from the entertainment industry it’s because I am not into selling myself. You won’t see me buying space to get written about. I want to be appreciated for the work that I do.”

Taking an obvious dig at the industry and its ways where apparently there is a lot of buying and selling of footage, coverage, TRPs and more, the actress shared that she has made her peace with not purchasing fame, but enjoying only the love and appreciation she would receive organically.

At present, the actress who even though tried to make her comeback with much-delayed Bhaiaji Superhit in 2018, ultimately landed herself in a big flop. However, the actress has been occupied with the Indian Premier League and her Kings XI Punjab team and is reportedly going to be looking at producing the Hindi adaptation of the hit British series The Night Manager, that originally featured Tom Hiddleston.
