I have always believed that the advent of the internet was a double-edged sword. It gets you everything you want at one click. From groceries to shopping, and connecting with someone overseas, we are grateful that the internet allows you to do it all from the comfort of your home. But it is social media that is ruining the game. As much instant messaging and video calling your loved ones has become easy, social media has also paved the way for many anti-social elements to exist while being nameless behind a screen. Girls and women get harassed by strangers, they get unsolicited dick pictures and get stalked online, too. In view of the same, the Hyderabadcyber crime police have registered a case against an Instagram page that uploads pictures and videos of girls.
As per a report by India Today, the Instagram handle of this disgusting page is ‘jhamunda_2’. The owner of this page, who is unnamed, would stalk girls online and upload their pictures and videos on their own page without their consent. Shockingly enough, this page has close to 15,000 followers online and only uploads pictures and videos of young girls. Not just that, the page owner also would write demeaning and derogatory captions alongside the posts.
Reportedly, this page also encourages its followers to shoot such videos and send them to upload. They have also found that 900 people have shot such videos and uploaded this lewd content on the above-mentioned Instagram page. A case has been registered against the Instagram page under sections 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (insult the modesty of a woman), and 354(d) (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

This is just sick behaviour exhibited by people. It shows women and girls are never safe, be it in the real world or the virtual world. Personaly, this is a scarying story, knowing that someone is stalking you and not knowing where the content you upload is being shared. Women are always supposed to keep looking over their shoulder every where thye are! *Sigh*
