Hindu Girls In Pakistan Are Being Kidnapped, Forcibly Converted To Islam And Then Married Off To Muslim Men. Why Is No One Talking About This?

It is no secret that women, all over the world are subjected to various forms of harassment. From inequality to sexual assault to female infanticide to trafficking to something as terrifying as genital mutilation (unfortunately, the list is way too long), it’s a long, long list. No one can deny these things happen to hundreds of women all over the globe. Now, adding to that list we have another form of malpractice that has been happening in Pakistan against women that has come to light. You know what the saddest part is? I am not even surprised shit like this goes on.

Before I digress into my rant, let me tell you what actually is happening, by telling you the latest incident. Bharti Bai, a Hindu woman living in Hala city located in Matiari district in Sindh province of Pakistan was abducted by a group of goons, from her wedding ceremony in broad daylight. After this incident, a picture of Bharti with her documents of conversion to Islam and marriage to a Shahrukh Gul became viral on social media.

The confusing part of this entire incident though is that the documents that went viral dated Bharti’s conversion to Islam at least month prior to her abduction. No one really knows what actually went down but what we do know is that this isn’t a one-off incident.

According to a report, at least 1,000 Hindu women between the ages of 12-28 are being abducted and forced to marry Muslim men every year. I don’t have to tell you why this is wrong and utterly ridiculous. Now, I am not against inter-cast marriages but actually abducting a woman and forcing her to convert to another religion and forcibly marrying her off to someone on gunpoint is unfathomable.

A similar incident took place in August 2019, when 19-year-old Jagjit Kaur was abducted and married off to a Muslim man. It was later learned that she was converted to Islam on gunpoint.

Another incident that took place was also in the Sindh province, where a Hindu girl, Reno Kumari, was kidnapped while she was on her way to college. She was also forcibly converted to Islam and married off to a Muslim man. Reno was returned safely to her family a few days later.

When we learned about these three incidents, we dug a little deeper and found out that in October 2019, Namrita, a first-year medical student was found murdered inside a locked room. She too had been abducted and the reports raise suspicion of forced conversion.

Four incidents of the same crime and who knows how many more there are that have gone unreported. These are some serious red flags and most of them seem to be surrounding the Sindh province in Pakistan. The local authorities have taken no action so far, which makes sense since reports claim they too are involved with most of these miscreants.

All this just raises one question in my mind, what the hell is wrong with the world? Can we focus on the point that these are young girls that are being kidnapped, forcibly converted and married at gunpoint and no one is even batting an eyelid?
