Here’s Why It’s Unfair To Call Sonam Kapoor “Dumb” For Enjoying Her “Freedom” In London
It’s baffling how so many people just wait to pick on celebrities to feel a sense of power. These trolls, I believe, have a powerless, sad life and they get their high from trying to pull down a public figure. How else do you justify the utter lack of common sense in their criticism? Recently, Sonam Kapoor got trolled for saying that she has more freedom in London than she did in India. But it clearly seems like a case of misunderstanding.
In a recent interview with Vogue, Sonam Kapoor said that she loves her freedom in London. She added that she loves being able to go out grocery shopping, cleaning and maintaining her own space and even cooking at home.
But some people took it so personally. Like they really have no chill in life. “India has no FREEDOM. Maid’s, Cooks enters home forcefully and don’t let you do anything. #ThursdayThoughts #SonamKapoor,” a user wrote. Another added, “Starting a petition to book all the house helps and maids who forcefully enter our homes and rob us of the freedom to do our own work. #FreedomToDoHouseChores #SonamKapoor.”
Like really? Isn’t it very obvious that she meant it in a different way? In India, Sonam Kapoor will be mobbed if she enters a supermarket to shop for things. In London, she can walk around in a supermarket, go to a vegetable market and not be pestered. That is the kind of “freedom” she is talking about.
She has proved it time and again that she is a dumbo is it?

Also, don’t many of us talk about moving out, renting a place on our own and live independently? We talk about experiencing the “freedom” of doing things our way, much of it involving us adulting and taking care of domestic duties on our own.

Another user called her “entitled” for saying that. Erm, if she was entitled, Sonam Kapoor would be complaining about having to do things on her own. She said, she is actually enjoying it. Yes, she is privileged. That is not her fault and she doesn’t need to feel apologetic about it. Yes, she lived a comfortable life with several domestic helps. So? Should she feel guilty about it? No, her family created employment opportunities.
