Pick any Bollywood film, you will see that when the groom’s family demands dowry on the wedding day, the bride’s father immediately puts his pagdi on their feet and begs them to marry his daughter which has made us emotional many times but is really sexist. This case is not at all like those Bollywood films. Here, the bride’s family teaches the greedy groom a nice lesson when he demands dowry on the wedding day. In Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, a groom was thrashed by the bride’s family on his wedding day because he demanded additional dowry. We are peace-loving people but the topic of dowry boils our blood!
Recently, a video has gone viral on the internet which shows a sad and dark tradition of marriage which is demanding dowry from the bride’s side by the groom’s family. In the video, we can see that the groom is taken out of the wedding venue and beaten up by the bride’s family. A woman is trying to shield the man and appears to be a member of the groom’s family. The incident took place in UP’s Ghaziabad on 17th December.

According to the reports, before the marriage, the groom’s family demanded Rs. 10 lakh dowry and threatened to cancel the wedding if their demand is not fulfilled on time. Rs. 3 lakh in cash and a piece of diamond jewellery worth Rs 1 lakh were previously given to the groom. This outraged the bride’s family and they started beating the greedy groom.

Although, beating someone like this is not lawful at all. But the rising cases of dowry deaths where the woman ends her own life after facing unbearable torture by her in-laws or the in-laws killing the woman if she is unable to bring dowry makes us furious and concerned at the same time.
