At the end of any weekday, we all at least once think about earning money without working hours for it. Most of us, to be very honest are just done with the rush of life, going through the same monotonous routine each day to earn a decent amount of money and have a good lifestyle for ourselves. I don’t think anyone of us would complain if we got a lump sum of money without even doing anything, but looks like not all of us are this way. Recently, a German heiress made news, mainly for two reasons. One is that she inherited a sum of USD 4.2 Billion from her grandparents and the second, that she is not happy about it. Strange right? Marlene Engelhorn who hails from Vienna, Austria, is a German heiress who inherited a huge fortune after the death of her grandparents. The family had a chemical business. However, Marlene is not really ready to accept that she will be getting such a huge amount of inherited money and that too without even working for it. Rather she believes that the entire money should be taxed way. Well, this perspective clearly comes from the fact that Marlene Engelhorn is the co-founder of an organisation called Tax Me Now. This organisation is formed by wealthy individuals who also believe that inherited money should be taxed and re-distributed properly, as per the news.

Well, we could just look at this decision by Marlene from two perspectives. I mean, this is sad that she does not want to accept money that is coming to her without doing anything. It’s like Aati hui Laxmi ko na kehna, this idiom is quite apt for a situation like this. But then her point that such a huge amount of inherited money is always better to be equally re-distributed rather than being of an individual’s is also not entirely wrong.
