Gauahar Khan Says She’s Choosing Projects That Allow Her To Explore Her Acting Skills
What makes a true actor is when she is doing something that she finds meaningful. When an actor knows that her role and or character holds importance and pushes the plot ahead. There are some actors and actresses that think this way. But then there are also those who focus on being the lead protagonist opposite a high-profile actor. And all of this boils down to choice and the situation the actor/actress is in. Gauahar Khan is one such model-turned-actress that doesn’t regret not having a lead role against actors like Ranbir Kapoor and is content with the kinds of characters and or roles she has chosen so far.
Recently, the model-turned-actress, Gauahar Khan, in an interview, said that the basis on which she now chooses her projects – especially films – has changed. Now, the actress is focused on taking up projects that allow her to explore her acting skills.

From sharing screen space with actors like Arjun Kapoor, Vidya Balan, and Ranbir Kapoor to performing in web series like Tandav and 14 Phere – Gauahar Khan has done it all and how. In the interview, she revealed that earlier she used to pick up projects and every other opportunity that used to come her way. And the reason for doing so was because she had started out with nothing and the opportunities in cinemas were limited. But now, 19 years later, according to Gauahar Khan, things have changed for the good.
And this change came about because of the many OTT platforms that are available. Gauahar Khan believes that OTT platforms have offered actors and actresses like her a chance to flaunt and explore their acting skills. They have provided many opportunities to actors/actresses who are just starting out in the entertainment industry.
Gauahar Khan who started out her journey as a model in 2002 has done it all – whether it be reality shows, films, or web series. When speaking about whether she has any regrets about the decisions she took professionally, Gauhar Khan said, “Honestly speaking, I do not look at anything with regret. I do not regret why I do not have the role of female protagonist opposite Ranbir Kapoor in a Bollywood film or why directors, producers are not considering me for lead roles, etc. For films, the footage did not matter to me, the character did. If you look at my character in ‘Ishaqzaade’, ‘Begum Jaan’, those scenes and moments in the story were important. For me, it is always about creating something on-screen that resonates with the audience, and it did.”
And Gauahar Khan is not the only one who has spoken about the benefits of having OTT platforms. OTT platforms have brought around many changes – whether it be fresh new stories, hidden artists, new age directors, etc. Taking every single opportunity that comes your way may not always be a good idea. Taking up opportunities that enhance and nourish your skills will help you go a long way. So, choose wisely.
