For All Those Confused About What The Items In A Geometry Box Were Used For, This Twitter Thread Has The Most Hilarious Explanations!

I’d been kind of a nerd while growing up, and I have absolutely no shame in admitting that. I turned to books even in my break time, and the fact that I am more fluent and well read than any of my peers is pretty satisfying to know, at this point. But even with all those extra credits and study groups, one academic concept that really flew past my head was that of geometry. You see, till the time we were asked to make circles with a compass, or carve our desks with the word ‘FLAMES’, it was all good. But as soon as other things came into the picture, I was fabulously lost.

And seems like I haven’t been the only one struggling to find use of geometry in a classroom and in life. A woman on Twitter recently started a thread, giving a hilarious spin to all the items found in a geometry box, and their respective uses. Buckle up guys, the explanation is going to be one helluva ride.

Starting with the picture of a basic geometry box, that at the first glance sent us down memory lane, where we’d lose the eraser as soon as we unpacked it, was marked with some of the most appropriate and hilarious descriptions of all the tools. From the triangular scales to the divider, each was explained in terms of a student’s interpretation of it, and we couldn’t help but relate to it!

From describing the protractor as, “Yeh ‘D’ hai, bas yahi kaam ka hai, baki dono triangles scale tootne ke baad use karunga’, to going ahead and explaining the use of a divider as, ‘Bench pe creativity dikhaane wala auzar’, her explanation had us in splits. In fact, even the point where she talks  about how the sharpener is probably the most notorious of them, because it stays with you all along up until one night before the exam, was all too damn relatable.

Twitterati joined in on the thread to sharing their own views, where most of them only had one question – “what is the use of the two triangles”. One user wrote, “Never understood why they gave set squares in geometry box. Never used them in school”, while another one commented, “what’s the significance of the triangle scales? Used them just to draw lines when the 15cm one got lost or broke.” As did we, mate.

Considering how we weren’t the only ones, using these items in what Indians like to call as jugaad, we were delighted to find out, all students out there are perhaps enjoying the contents of the box with equal creativity and confusion!
