Candy & Green, the two-storied restaurant on the curve of Arabian Sea, is a delight for anybody who believes in eating clean, healthy, yet delicious food.

Shraddha Bhansali, the founder and owner of this eatery, said that the idea and purpose behind the venture has been her passion for wellness and mindful eating.

First Impressions

When I walked into the restaurant on a Thursday evening, I was told that the sunset from the rooftop restaurant would be gorgeous with some Vanilla Bellini for company. But then I thought the cool night sky breeze against my face and a royal Mumbai skyline spread out in front me was quite a stunner too.

Indoor Dining Area

There’s also an indoor dining area, which, I’m guessing, would be majorly occupied when the sun and rain Gods choose to wreck havoc on us mortals.

The young Bhansali recommended that I start the evening with some Joker, a juice named after the superhero. While I was getting into the mood for enjoying a nice, languid evening, the polite steward brought in some Red Wine Sangria and the Rubies and Pearls (a salad made of mixed greens, pearl barley, pomegranate, hazelnuts, feta, honey, and mustard) to munch on. There was a certain freshness about the salad that was the perfect start to the evening.

Bhansali said that this is the result of the live greenhouse, where they grow most of their produce, without leaving any carbon footprint behind — the result is 25 kilos of edible foliage per month.

Next I had some Goats’ Cheese and Caramelised Onion Flatbread that was extremely well-baked. It was crunchy and light, and filled me up just enough to be able to enjoy dinner.

For my main, I had Turkish Kebab Wraps that were juicy and succulent. Though I think the taste and texture of the spiced soy kebab could have been better.

On Bhansali’s recommendation again, I rounded off my gourmet experience with a vegan hazelnut mousse, and boy, was it gorgeous (For all the vegans out there, take note of this place that offers such lip-smacking vegan dishes).

The concept along with the consciousness did make for a refreshing experience, and I recommend vegetarians and meat-eaters alike to go get a feel of the place the next time they want to eat healthy food with a view.
