Filmmaker Raaj Shaandilyaa Calls Swara Bhasker ‘Sasti Cheez’ Because Why Bring Coherent Arguments When Talking To A Woman?

Filmmaker Raaj Shaandilyaa Calls Swara Bhasker ‘Sasti Cheez’ Because Why Bring Coherent Arguments When Talking To A Woman?

My mother always tells me that how a person reacts to a difficult situation always tells us plenty about his nature and character. And much like other philosophies that she has shared with me over the years, this one too turned out to be rather true, for we have come to witness just how little integrity people have when their beliefs are challenged. And when considering the volatile political climate, everyone is challenging everyone’s beliefs, even their own. One of the biggest and active voices of dissent has been that of actress Swara Bhaskar.

The actress who has not shied away from being at the frontline, voicing her opinions and fighting tooth and nail for what she believes in, is being hailed by some as the voice of reason, and by others as someone who needs to be shut up. One such person being the filmmaker Raaj Shaandilyaa, who chose the most poorly drafted words to get his point across. In what is clearly hate comment, Shaandilyaa took a distasteful dig at the actress by posting, “Sasti cheezo pe dhyan na dein. “Swara Bhaskar” se mehenga “Dainik Bhaskar” bikta hai (Do not pay attention to cheap items. Dainik Bhaskar is sold at a higher price than Swara Bhaskar).”

Infuriating us just as much as it did Swara, Raaj Shaandilyaa proved that in an argument with a woman, most men will not bring their thinking hats or logic, they will talk about the woman’s worth. Think about it, this is the same filmmaker who directed the Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer movie, Dream Girl, that wasn’t even subtle with it’s Islamophobia. I mean, it’s not like we expected such a low blow but if you paid enough attention, you’d know that there are traces of a misogynist, communal person underneath.

The Veere Di Wedding actress however, was not going to sit back and take it, for she stepped up yet again and put the man in his place. She replied saying, “Next time, before offering a role and sending messages requesting to share your film’s trailers, you also think again about committing ‘cheap acts’. :) Good luck @writerraj sir!” Calling him out for his own hypocrisy and distaste, Swara made her point fair and square.

Now, at this point when one would think Raaj would’ve taken a hint for his dick move and backed down in silence and regret, the filmmaker had the audacity to write back in a reply that made little to no sense. He wrote, “If you did not like my statement, I am wholeheartedly sorry. But there is a request, you should also think before you speak anything about anyone, whether its the country, people or a particular person. And talking about myself, I will definitely offer you a role next time as I have no objections to you being an actor.”

And Swara did give it back to him.

Giving it back, she objects to the words he used and gave him a clapback when she said, ‘And you’re not thinking before you speak and type sir! We are opposed to ideology and logic – you are being personal. And what right can you or I object to someone being an actor or a citizen? :)’

The actress on the other hand, not letting any senseless and entitled man get the better of her, continues fight at the forefront as she got together with a few other celebrities to be part of the protests at the Gateway of India in Mumbai against the violent mob attacks that took place at JNU.
