India’s Falguni Nayar Amongst Top 10 Self-Made Women Billionaires In The World, As Per Hurun Research Institute’s List

Considering how difficult it is for women to get ahead in this world, it is understandable that it is harder for women to break the glass ceiling when they actually run successful businesses. Moreover, I can’t even imagine the amount of effort it takes to be a self-made businesswoman. The Hurun Research Institute released their list of Richest Self-Made Women in the World for 2022 and Nykaa owner Falguni Nayar is on the list! 

The Hurun Research Institute released their list of self-made richest women in the world for 2022 and India’s Falguni Nayar, the founder of Nykaa is on the list. She is one of the 19 new faces this year out of which 12 are from China. Falguni Nayar led with US $7.6 BN. She was followed by LU YIWEN which is a Shenzhen-based diamond brand at $6.2 BN and Canva founder Melanie Perkins at $6 BN. Bumble owner Whitney Wolfe Herd at 32 is the youngest self-made billionaire at US $ 1 BN.

Falguni Nayar is now in the top 10 richest self-made women in the world along with overtaking Biocon’s Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw in becoming the richest self-made woman in India. It was a double whammy for Falguni as Nykaa was featured in TIME100 as one of the most influential companies.

China has two-thirds of the world’s self-made female billionaires. The research also found that India tripled its number of self-made women over the past decade. Radha Vembu, the co-founder of Zoho was the third woman to be on the list along with Nayar and Shaw.
