Dia Mirza Breaks Down While Talking About Climate Change. People Ask Her Why Her Actions Don’t Back Her Talk

They say, if we do something for long enough, we get better at it. And considering Bollywood actors and actresses are almost always acting, given that this is their job, slipping into the roles of their characters, acting becomes second nature to them. But then when they are out there, representing themselves and not promoting a movie, we are expecting that they be real. And that’s what we were looking at when Dia Mirza recently spoke at the Jaipur Literature fest about climate change.

While in conversation about the deteriorating condition of the environment at the Jaipur literature fest, and talking about the current state of affairs, that ask that there be a climate emergency, actress Dia Mirza broke down.

Shedding her tears while still addressing the crowd, Dia Mirza said, “Don’t hold back from being an empath. Don’t be afraid of shedding your tears. Feel it, feel the full extent of everything. It’s good. It gives us strength. It does. And this is not a performance.” Soon after she finished speaking, she was offered tissues for her tears, which she politely refused to use, for they were paper. And the entire thing didn’t go down too well with people who asked her why she continued to abuse the environment in her personal capacity while urging people to think about climate change.

When Dia Mira was asked about her breakdown, she said, “My day started really well yesterday… At around 3 (early morning), this news alert came on my phone for a very big player, NBA player, who I followed for a while,” referring to Kobe Bryant’s untimely death. She then continued, “His chopper crashing in California disturbed me. It really upset me. There are different things that upset us on different days, but we take care of ourselves. I was overwhelmed because my blood pressure was low.”

Wait, so the tears were for Kobe Bryant? Or the environment? We’re confused. Anyway, people called out Dia for being a climate change activist in words but not following that up with any concrete action.
