Deepika Padukone’s Advice On Love, Heartbreaks And Marriage Is Full Of Wisdom And Sass. She’s The Older Sister We Wish We Had.

It often amuses me that we are so obsessed with Bollywood. And our love is not limited to just the celluloid experience but has spilled on to the actors. Well, spill is kinda an understatement; it’s more like a tsunami of love. Somehow, we feel like we know them and their lives while we sit here oblivious to what’s happening in our own friends’ lives.  I can’t deny it’s fun to gauge an actor’s personality and even emotional state because we are always exposed to a lot of news about them. I feel like one of the reasons we love Deepika Padukone so much is that, over the years, she has shown her vulnerable side and been so relatable all along. She feels like just any of us – falling head over heels in love with the wrong guy and evolving her way out of that pain. Except, she has found her prince charming, and mine at this point, seems to be a myth or probably stuck in the upside down in a car or something, I don’t know.

Deepika Padukone, over the past few years have not only sprinted ahead in her career but she has also had a personal growth spurt. I talk like I know her in person, but hey, can’t we all tell from her demeanour? Which is why, when she speaks about love, life and relationships, we take furious notes. Recently, she did and once again, but with an electrifying combo of sass and wisdom.

On her fights with Ranveer Singh

Recently in an interview with Pinkvilla, Deepika revealed that the couple doesn’t fight, which is surprising considering most married couples I know act like lovers one day and like enemies the next. “No, we don’t fight at all. We are just grateful to spend whatever little time we get to spend with each other. We both respect each other for who we are, and what we are,” Deepika revealed.

She further explained how they are quite different from each other but don’t let that affect their relationship. “I understand the way he functions and he understands me. Our ways of functioning are very different. I’m a morning person, I wake up early. I am very sort of disciplined but his routine is very different. But we have found our way around that,” said Deepika.

In fact, Deepika said marriage is quite fun (maybe that will help ease the fears of us commitment phobes.) “It’s fun. Marriage is a lot of fun, at least for now. When I say this to his parents or my parents, they say, ‘Wait for 35 years, you will know’. Maybe we will figure out 35 years later what it will be like then. We don’t want to assume that it’s going to be a certain way. For now, it’s great and fun,” Deepika expressed.

On love and healing

Deepika Padukone was in a serious relationship with Ranbir Kapoor, and had even tattooed his name on the nape of her neck. However, when it didn’t work out we could tell that she was quite heartbroken. Talking about the aftermath of the heartbreak, she said, “When this relationship, which I was in ended in 2012 (her breakup with Ranbir Kapoor), I was like I’m done. I wanted to try out this concept of casual dating. I just did not want to be answerable to anyone. When Ranveer and I met in 2012, I told him, ‘I realize there’s a connection between us. I really like you but I want to keep it open. I don’t want to commit. If I get attracted to different people I’m going to do my thing.” That’s probably how a lot of us feel right now, so probably like it worked out for Deepika, it will work out for us too. Or at least that’s the hope.

Deepika gave some really sound marriage advice

If you’re still looking for the one, Deepika has some great advice for you, “The most important thing is that you need to find someone who respects you and who truly understands you. For any relationship to be successful, trust, friendship and mutual respect is very important.”

“Being married is beautiful. Like Ranveer said I think we recommend it to every young person who is in love. But just be sure. Don’t jump into something because someone expects you to get married or there is pressure on you. Know in your heart that that’s the right person for you and you would want to spend the rest of your life with that person,” she further added.

Her response about her rumoured pregnancy was all sass

Here comes her sassy side! Recently, at an event, a journalist took the liberty to ask her if she was pregnant and pat came a witty reply. “Do I look like a pregnant? I will ask you when I will plan (to have a family). If you give me permission then I will plan. If I become pregnant then you will see that in nine months,” she said. While all of us are really curious about the celebrities’ lives, this journalist went a bit too far. Let the woman be! Stop asking every married actress about her reproduction plans.
