Deepika Padukone Does Her Bit In Spreading Awareness About Coronavirus By Taking The Safe Hands Challenge. We Think More Celebrities Should Be Doing This
Nobody had thought that the year 2020, which was supposed to be this year of great travel plans, big movie releases and actualising into those unfulfilled dreams most of us had, would turn into the year that will go down in history as the one in which a guy in China had bat soup and in a domino effect, brought the world to its knees. A time when all of us have been forced into the confines of our homes, to escape this deadly virus, it suddenly feels as though we’re part of this real-time post apocalyptic scenario, where the only way to get through this is by socially distancing ourselves. And doing her bit in spreading this message, is the Chhapaak actress Deepika Padukone, as she takes to her social media to educate the rest.
As of now, when the only big release is the dangerously spreading virus, we have a few movie stars, making most of their following and free time on hands, to put their influence to good use and do their bit in spreading awareness about Coronavirus and how it needs to be countered with the safe hands challenge. This is unlike other challenges where people put their lives at risk (the kiki challenges comes to mind), this one is to save lives.
Nominated by Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), who had also nominated other celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Arnold Schwarzenegger and model Christy Turlington for the challenge, we had Deepika recently drop a video of taking the challenge and passing along a strong and important message. The actress wrote, “Thank you Dr Tedros, for nominating me for the Safe Hands Challenge! COVID19 surely is an uphill health and public safety task, but all of us are in this fight together!”

She further added the names of three global celebrities she nominates for the challenge and wrote, “I further nominate Roger Federer, Cristiano Ronaldo and Virat Kohli to take up this challenge. Stay safe.” And quite honestly, we think as someone sitting with millions and millions willing to listen to them on social media, it only made sense to use that social presence and talk about the need of the hour.

Passing along the right message in the right sentiment, as we see Deepika armed to fight the virus covered in her mask, thoroughly cleansing her hands, we were glad that at least Deepika did not wash her hands off the social responsibility (pun intended). Hoping to see lots of others jumping in on this safety spread wagon and do the needful in times of such crisis. Meanwhile, as the actress also quarantines herself, she has gotten busy with some wardrobe cleaning, once again giving us all the hint we need to get down to clean ours!
