Daughter-In-Law And Lover Murder Her Mother-In-Law After She Finds Out About Their Affair

In the past few days, I’ve been reading quite a few murder thrillers that have had me at the edge of my seat. And after every novel that I finish, I always stop to wonder if the author had taken any detail/inspiration from real-life murders. Honestly, I think they must have. The news, recently, is filled with horrifying murders that have taken place around the country. The recent one being where the daughter-in-law and her lover strangle the mother-in-law to death after she rejects their affair.

Recently, a 42-year-old woman and her lover strangled her 70-year-old mother-in-law to death and later dumped her body on the railway track to make it seem like an accident. According to the police reports, the murder was committed right after the elderly woman came to know about their affair and raised an objection to it.

The elderly woman, Ningamma was a resident of Mandya district that had gone missing on 19th July. She seemed to go missing right after she went to meet her daughter-in-law, Latha, in the Kyathasandra area. And the very next day, the police found a headless body on the railway tracks. The police then started their inquiry after they registered the case to be murder instead of an accident.

The police then committed a series of investigations and found out that the mutilated body was of Ningamma. They also zeroed in on the fact that the murder of Ningamma was committed by her daughter-in-law, Latha, and her lover Balachandra.

The police investigation also revealed that Latha was paying Ningamma monthly maintenance from her husband’s property and she owed her mother-in-law a total of Rs. 1.5 lakhs. And after her husband’s death, Latha fell in love with Balachandra who was a bus conductor. When Ningamma came to know about their affair, she raised an objection to it. Which led Latha and Balachandra to plan Ningamma’s murder.

The two – Latha and Balachandra – strangled the 70-year-old mother-in-law to death and stole all her gold ornaments. They then threw her body on the railway tracks to pass the murder off as an accident. When Ningamma’s head was severed, they threw the head in the back of a truck so that the police would not be able to identify the body. The police found the severed head in Ilkal which is around 350km away from the crime scene.

This horrifying murder case makes me sick to my stomach. It makes me wonder how someone can be so brutal and cold-hearted. Falling in love and being in love is one thing, but committing murder because someone had an objection to it is extremely unethical and uncalled for. Sitting down and communicating with the person might be a better way of dealing with the problem rather than killing someone.
