In A Gruesome Case From Telangana, Man Rapes And Kills Woman, Assaults The Woman’s Corpse
[TW: Sexual Assault and Rape] In a very barbaric incident from Telangana, a 24-year-old woman was brutally raped and murdered. The gruesome act was allegedly carried out by a 25-year old construction supervisor. The chain of events is triggering. The man has also been accused of raping the woman’s corpse. The incident took place on May 9, 2022, at a godown in Choutuppal. The accused was arrested on Wednesday from a labour camp in Malkapur village. The place was just a km away from where the crime was committed.
According to news reports, the accused had been stalking the woman for quite some time. He learned that the woman would stay alone for most hours of the day because her husband was off to work. On the evening of May 9, the accused silently entered the woman’s premises and gave her death threats. He raped her and within an hour killed her. He bashed her head with a sharp object and then repeatedly assaulted her lifeless body. The man also took away the gold jewellery from the woman’s body. These details were given by the Choutuppal ACP, Uday Reddy.
The victim’s husband filed a complaint. An FIR has been registered for rape, murder, SC/ST act. The accused was arrested after being identified by the people in the neighbourhood. He was produced in the court and is currently under judicial custody.
As a woman, this news makes me sick. The pain the woman must have endured is unimaginable. India continues to see brutal acts of rape cases every other day. In this case, the dead corpse of the woman was also not given any mercy. As the country witnesses debates on criminalising marital rapes, the crime against women seems to have no end.
