Chrissy Teigen Says She Is Done With Counting Calories And With Diet Culture

From Regina George’s twisted “all carb diet” in Mean Girls to my best friend’s intermittent fasting that only allows her to eat in intervals of 16 hours, my introduction to the concept of dieting has been rather conflicting and unappealing. And for obvious reasons. Not like I’ve ever had to lose weight, considering I have the opposite kind of struggles – one to gain pounds, but just the idea of keeping yourself from having anything gives you joy is off-putting to me. As it is to the 35-yea- old model and author Chrissy Teigen who has revealed that she is done with dieting.

Author of the famous book, ‘Cravings’ and ‘Cravings: Hungry for More’ recently opened up in an interview with the People’s magazine for their Beautiful Issue, and spoke about the kind of “ups and downs” and struggles she had with “dieting and diet culture”. All of which she says to now have “thrown all that out of the window.”

Talking about her experience, Teigen said, “I think now at this point in my life it’s more important for me to enjoy things as they come. I kind of put my mind over body a little bit, mind and spirit over body. If it’s going to make me happy and make me feel good, then I indulge in it.” And if that isn’t the right way to live (and eat), we don’t know what is.

She went on talk about it as she said, “I’ve lived a whole life. I’ve spent way too many years counting calories, scheduling way too many workouts and trying to figure out what my term for wellness was for myself. I’ve been trying to figure that out for so so long.”

Dropping the answer to that long asked question, Teigen went on to say, “Now I know that it’s on the ground playing with my kids, getting out there, going to a park, going to an aquarium, being able to drive around with my kids in the car. That is activity for me and I enjoy doing things like that.”

In the same interview, also sharing activities that she loves to indulge in, apart from play time with family, Chrissy shared, “I do love yoga and pilates now but the balance in it is really nice because it’s nice to be able to kill two birds by playing with my kids and getting that activity in honestly. To me that’s more fun.” Seems like, bidding goodbye to any form of dieting that involved her from holding back, Chrissy has chosen to be healthy and most importantly happy, than kill herself over conforming to a particular size or shape.

And for that decision, we respect her! Guess, it’s true that we can’t put a price (or a size) on happiness, after all.
