Bihar IAS Officer Expresses Regret Over Controversial ‘Condom’ Comment. But The Damage Is Already Done
I think it is really good when people finally realise their mistakes and apologise because life is all about making mistakes and learning from them, right? Well, not always, there are some mistakes that cannot be fixed. Well, speaking of mistakes, Harjot Kaur Bamhrah, the IAS officer who made the controversial condom remarks when a schoolgirl asked her if the government can provide sanitary napkins at subsidised rates, has finally realised that her comment was problematic and issued an apology letter. But the damage is already done, madamji!

On Thursday, the senior IAS officers and Women Development Corporation Managing Director Harjot Kaur Bamhrah apologised for her objectionable remark. Expressing regret over the incident, she mentioned that she would like to apologise if her words hurt any girl’s sentiments. Furthermore, she mentioned in her apology letter that she didn’t intend to humiliate anyone or hurt anyone’s sentiments.

The apology letter came a few hours after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar promised to take action against the IAS officer who said that students will ask for jeans, shoes, and condoms if the government started providing sanitary pads to girls.

Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women (NCW) criticised Harjot Kaur Bamhrah’s behaviour and has sought an explanation from her over the ‘condom’ remark.

Well, the IAS officers should have been careful with her words. Just because she holds a powerful position and can express her opinions freely, that doesn’t mean she can humiliate others and get away with it by writing an apology letter. Guess what, the damage is already done, madamji.
