The 170-carat pink diamond is said to be the biggest and rarest ever discovered in 300 years, as per the Australian Mining Company. The rare rock has been mined from Lulo, a place in Angola, in Central Africa. Further, we also get to know that it has been named after the place’s name itself and will be known as “The Lulo Rose”. As per the article, the Lucapa Company which successfully managed to mine the diamond in an exchange filing said that this is the biggest ever found globally. On July 27, Wednesday, during the exchange filing, Lucapa also called the 170-carat rock an extraordinary gift from nature. The report also suggests that the Angolan National Diamond Trading Company will conduct a tender to sell the world’s largest diamond. After the recovery of the diamond, the mineral resource minister of Angola, Diamantino Azevedo said that such discoveries from their country are proof that they are an important source and player in the diamond mining business. He also stated that this is the gift of their continuous efforts and hard work to grow the mining industry in the country.
Meanwhile, the managing director of Lucapa, Stephen Wetherall also made a statement on this great occasion and said that he is really proud of yet another discovery like this. FYI, the biggest diamond found before the “The Lulo Rose” was also dug out in Angola, and that was called The February Stone.
