Bangladeshi Couple Does Impromptu Performance On ‘Kaahe Chhed Mohe’ From Devdas, Wins Hearts

One of the joys of attending weddings for me is watching the bride and groom. Not in a creepy Joe Goldberg from You kinda way. But I enjoy watching two people not only waiting to spend the rest of their lives together but also genuinely enjoying their big day to the fullest. While I haven’t been able to attend a wedding in a while, this Bangladeshi dancer couple somehow made me feel all giddy inside with their impromptu haldi dance on the Devdas song ‘Kaahe Chhed Mohe’. And they seem to be having the time of their lives!

Bangladeshi dance duo Aaliya and Rohit Gijare posted a video to their Instagram of their impromptu performance to the popular Bollywood Devdas song sung by Pdt. Birju Maharaj, Kavita Krishnamurthy and Madhuri Dixit, Kaahe Chhed Mohe’. Their performances have won hearts online and impressed many. As a kathak student myself, I cannot imagine coordinating a performance like this without any prior practice or discussion.

Aaliya posted the video to her Instagram account with the caption, “You’ve heard of trust falls? Well this was a “trust dance” – My Gaye Holud entrance was a 5 minute Devdas mix that we somehow pulled off without ANY actual practice whatsoever. This particular part was something Rohit and I literally said to each other ‘you do something then I’ll follow…and we’ll just figure it out on stage’. That is exactly what happened.”

The duo posts a lot of their performances and choreography on the gram. Aaliya also posted their reception dance to the Bride And Prejudice song ‘Balle Balle.’ Can we just all admire how pretty she looks?

This is what I enjoy at weddings. A couple that is not just fake smiling for the heck of formalities and relatives but actually celebrating their big day. And for something as big, fat and festive as a wedding, what other way is the best way to celebrate it other than dancing the night away?
