Anushka Sharma Opens Up About Her Pregnancy And How The Lockdown Was Weirdly A Blessing For Her And Virat Kohli.

Probably one of the only enjoyable things about 2020 is that it’s the year of celebrity pregnancies. Earlier this year, Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli joined the list of celebrity couples who are expecting. Anushka, now in her eighth month of pregnancy, has finally let us in on her journey of carrying her baby during the pandemic. We couldn’t be happier for the couple!

In a recent interview with Vogue India, Anushka spoke about how this pandemic and its subsequent lockdown has been kind of a blessing for her and Virat. She was able to hide this pregnancy and go through it without the paparazzi and everyone else hounding her for photos and comments. Weirdly, this pandemic was the silver-lining that allowed Anushka and Virat to take their time and enjoy the pregnancy before having to announce it.

Anushka Sharma told Vogue India, “The pandemic has been a weird blessing in a way. Virat was around and I could keep it a secret. We only left to go to the doctor’s clinic. No one was on the streets so we couldn’t be spotted.”

What a relief it must be for them to be able to savour these private moments, privately. A luxury a lot of celebrities don’t have. Anushka went on to narrate an incident about how working from home was a blessing in disguise. She recounted a time when she was busy with the promotions of her movie Bulbbul. Anushka was on a Zoom interview when she suddenly began feeling extremely nauseous. She said, “I quickly turned off my video and messaged my brother, who was also on the call, to stall them for ten minutes. If I had been on set or in a studio, everyone would have known.”

I am so glad that this lockdown and the whole work from home situation has served someone. Anushka, who is due in January, told Vogue India that she has a very meticulous approach to getting things done before the baby arrives. Even her animal-themed nursery is ready weeks before her due date. The best part? Anushka has kept it completely gender-neutral. We love this.

She said, “I don’t believe that boys have to wear blue and girls pink. The nursery has all colours.” Further adding, “Both Virat and I love animals and we want our baby to have that bond too. They are a big part of our lives and we really believe they can teach kindness and compassion to children.”

Hopefully, more parents will take notes from Anushka and Virat and let go of the stereotypical colours that are associated with gender.

Anushka goes on to talk about her parenting style and how she and Virat are going to ensure they don’t raise “brats”. She said, “There are so many similarities in the way we are as people and the way we approach life. So I do think that will work for us. I’ve been thinking about it before I even became a parent. Conditioning is the most important role in how we see the world. I come from a progressive background, so that will always be a part of our home. Love is the underlying factor in our home, and what’s important to us is that our child be respectful of people. You have to create that value structure. We don’t want to raise brats.”

Parents can really take notes from Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli. I don’t know why I am so overly excited for this couple, but I really am.
