13 YO Anoushka Jolly, Youngest ‘Shark Tank India’ Contestant, Wins Rs 50 Lakh Funding For Anti-Bullying App

To be honest, society does not take the younger generation seriously. They always point out how we are the self-obsessed ones but in reality, there’s an entire generation of young leaders who understand the root cause of problems and want to solve them. Whether it’s politics, science and innovation, climate change, economics, education etc. the youth are very passionate about it and also they have proper solutions for it that can bring a major change in our society. Recently, we saw the example of it on Shark Tank India where a contestant Anoushka Jolly pitched the idea of an app, KAVACH that tackles the issue of bullying and got the funding of Rs 50 lakhs.

The young and talented entrepreneur Anoushka Jolly, a student of class 8 at Pathways School Gurugram became the youngest contestant to appear on Shark Tank India where she pitched her entrepreneurial idea KAVACH, the Anti Bullying mobile app that helps children fight bullying in school and colleges. She got the funding of Rs 50 lakhs from the investors Anupam Mittal (Shaadi.com) and Aman Gupta (boAt). The 13-year-old used to watch Shark Tank with her father and was really inspired by seeing people solving problems innovatively. After that, Anouska decided to pitch her idea in front of the ‘sharks’ on Shark Tank India and was surprised when she received funding from Anupam Mittal and Aman Gupta. “They understood the magnitude of the issue at hand and the impact KAVACH tends to make on the youth of the country. Initially, I thought I wouldn’t get a deal that day. However, then Mr Anupam made me an offer and gave me exactly what I asked for and before I could process the splendour of that situation, Mr Aman jumped in and agreed to a two-shark deal,” she said.

Anoushka made this app after releasing the need for anonymity and how it will empower the victim to share their problems without the fear of further bullying and embarrassment. Before this app, she also invented a different app called Anti Bullying Squad (ABS) to eradicate bullying and raise awareness about the issue. Through this app, specialists come together to organise one-on-one sessions in schools and raise awareness about bullying.
