An All Woman’s Crew Just Navigated The Rajya Rani Express Train. How Cool Is That?

You know that thing they say about women and them not being able to drive? Well, we have proved them wrong, time and again. So it would it be nice if the men would just suck it up and know that perhaps, women can not only drive, but if we were ever to be the only ones on the road, there would be fewer accidents. Of course, now you want to argue that women can drive, but can they drive bigger cars? Yes we can. We can fly planes. And now, we are running the trains as well. Toot, toot bitches!

As a way to celebrate this woman’s day which is around the corner, the Indian Railways has sanctioned an all women’s crew to operate the Rajya Rani Express train which ran its course on 1st March. The train which had a, wait for it, motor woman operated between Bengaluru and Mysuru. How cool is that? I am just waiting for the next time someone tells me women can’t do everything a man can, I can’t wait to throw this at their faces.

Our Railway Minister Piyush Goyal took to Twitter to announce this move. He posted a 48-second clip that shows the motor woman navigating the train. The caption read “Towards Empowering Women: Commemorating the upcoming International Women’s Day, Rajya Rani Express train between Bengaluru & Mysuru was run by an all-women crew today. Watch Railways motor woman expertly navigate the train through the interiors of our nation.”

The video that Piyush Goyal posted really impressed the netizens and went viral, and rightly so. Up until now, it has 95.8 thousand views and nearly 3K retweets. Check out a few tweets:

If you think about it, this move proves to everyone that women are as capable as men. We didn’t need to show this, but hey, a little showing off never hurt anyone. But this, not the first incident where a woman has taken up what have traditionally been considered male jobs!. I have a few examples of stellar women who are shattering glass ceilings. Madhuri Kantikar recently became the third Lt General in the Indian Army. Pratiksha Das recently became the first BEST bus driver, yep a woman bus driver. Also, tens of women have also taken to riding auto-rickshaws. This woman’s day, we need to celebrate these women who are breaking the conventional stream of things and doing things their own way.

I would love to be on that all-woman crew train!
