8 Movies To Binge Watch With Your Bride Squad For A Bachelorette Movie Marathon

If anyone were to ever ask me what the best part of a wedding is, whether I am the bride or the friend, my answer would be the same – the bachelorette. Think about it, a fancy trip with your girlfriends, soaking up some sun in cute bikinis and getting drunk on the idea of making the most of your left-over singlehood is perhaps reason enough to get married. But while most of us envision a girls gone wild kinda scene, and even pull it off, no bachelorette is really complete without running a fun movie marathon with them chickas. Because let’s face it, having been raised on Bollywood movies, a wedding is perhaps our only shot at living that extravagant life, and for those few days, the best way to kick off into those ‘extra’ feels is with a nice Bollywood blockbuster!

Dilwaale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge

No guesses there, but Dilwaale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge HAD to be the first on the list. Trending even after 20 years from its release, DDLJ has now turned itself from a movie about adventure, romance and marriage into a staple right before the wedding. Because if there is anything that gets us to giddy up more than Sukhbir’s song Ishq Tera Tadpaave at the dance floor, it is Amrish Puri’s iconic dialogue “Jaa Simran Jaa, Jeele apni zindagi,” Guess that’s all the blessing we need to give our own Simran too!

Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani

From the first time that I saw this movie, and mind you I have seen it an embarrassing number of times, I knew that it was what evergreen wedding movies are made out of – dreams, romance, adventure, heartbreak, dance numbers, location ideas to even good wedding couture. YJHD could be the next bridal playbook, one that is even more fun to watch with your girlfriends. After all, is there any wedding that is complete without songs from this rom-com?

2 States

Not the most conventional pick for a night full of crazy banter with your gal pals, but this movie is perhaps the kind to hit closest to home. From giving you reality checks, if you too are marrying a partner from a different religion, to also reminding you exactly why you should not stop pursuing each other, this movie comes as the perfect package to ready you up for the next stage of your life. More so if you’re in to settle with a punjabi mother in law!

Hum Saath Saath Hain

This probably has to be the first wedding-dedicated type of a movie that I ever saw, with its too-good-to-be-true joint family relations and picnic goals. From showing numerous weddings taking place in just one family, all mixed with an overload of sanskaar, drama, tears and then joy, this movie serves as our very guilty pleasure. Of course watching it now, it would be a nice expectations vs. reality situation, but we have to agree, it does hit you right in the feels!

Namastey London

This is hands down one of my favourite movies from the list. This movie is a perfect start to that bachelorette party that may start with us being all ‘Jazz‘, but eventually ending at owning up to our inner Jasmeet‘s. And not to forget, getting to see and imagine that perfect mix of Indian and western while at it!

Veere Di Wedding

A movie, that was perhaps only made for this very purpose of watching with your girl friends at their bachelorette, Veere Di Wedding, comes as reaffirmation that no matter how much things have or are going to change, your bond with each other doesn’t have to. Prepping you not just for a crazy bachelorette, but also for the crazy that follows after a wedding, this is a must-watch on the list with all your veeres.

Hum Aapke Hain Kaun

Because let’s face it, every wedding needs to at least have one of the family members re-creating the magic by Madhuri and Salman and trying their hand at slinging genda phool shots at others. And who better than your pack of wolves who probably will be the first ones dancing to Didi tera dewar deewana and later sneaking out to steal those juttis!

Band Baaja Baarat

The name for this movie says it all, because it clearly has it all. From giving you wedding decor ideas to charging you up for some challenging yet great wedding duties and masti, this movie is the kind of light comedy and romance you need to enjoy a night with your girls. And while you’re at it, learn the hook step you’ll be doing at the dance floor when the DJ plays ‘Ainayi Ainvayi‘!
