5 Thoughts I Had After Watching Haan Main Galat From Love Aaj Kal 2. One Of It Was About How Marie Kondo Needed To Be On The Set

5 Thoughts I Had After Watching Haan Main Galat From Love Aaj Kal 2. One Of It Was About How Marie Kondo Needed To Be On The Set

Love Aaj Kal is one of those classic movies that everyone loves. Now, Imtiaz Ali has attempted to make a sequel to it. From what we can judge from its trailer, it follows pretty much the same storyline as the first one with a millennial twist. Talking about similarities between the two movies, I am sure you remember the song Twist from the 2009 movie. Its equivalent in the sequel is called Haan Main Galat and here are five thoughts I had while watching the video.

First of all, let’s talk about the title. Because this should be what Kartik Aaryan should be saying on the daily, with this choice of dialogues and stuff.

Before you go on though, follow the drill and watch the video first.

  1. The first thought that came to mind while I was watching this song was what kind of a set is that? I mean, is it a club? An auditorium? A street? Seriously, what is it supposed to be? I get this set is built to be chill and all that, what I don’t understand is why they have tried to stuff every possible location into one song. It looks cluttered AF and if Marie Kondo would say this doesn’t spark joy. That being said, I love the pinkish purplish lighting, it is so funky.

  1. Can we take a moment and talk about the lyrics? If this is what happens when Bollywood tries to be original (well in this case, only half original) then I am going to retract all the shade I have ever thrown on remixes. “Haan main galat, galat meri baatein, galti se hi duniya bani,” My Wi-Fi, which is horrible BTW, has more connection than those lyrics to each other.

  1. Is it only me or did you’ll think the hook step looks like they are trying to kickstart an old scooter too? I could literally see my uncle (who rides an old scooty) doing the same step every morning. Maybe that is where they got the idea from. It also looks like they are trying very hard to play football but aren’t quite succeeding. In one scene, Kartik actually looks like he is having a seizure, and that can’t possibly be a step, no?

  1. I can’t help but compare this song to its predecessor, Twist from the OG Love Aaj Kal. The 2009 song (damn, I never realized the movie was over a decade old) is way way better. At least we know what the hell they are doing. That song had catchy lyrics and of course, Saif looked edible there. This one makes no sense, what the hell is the point of this song? If they were going to take “inspiration” from the OG song, isn’t their job to keep its essence intact and not massacre it? This song, like my thoughts after watching it, is all over place.
  1. Why is there so much darkness in the song? I had to literally squint to see what was happening and while that may not be cute, it was, well, revealing. But not entirely. A little revealing, maybe?
