5 Reasons Weekends Are Important Even If We’re All Working From Home

This lockdown has really made all our lives come to a standstill. Right now, I think a snail could out-crawl time and yes, I am so bored that I am thinking of analogies like those. Through the week I am working from home, which is great for it gives me something productive to do and saves me from pulling my hair out. But what really excites me nowadays are weekends.

Yes, obviously like every normal person, weekends always excited me but now more so. Which is actually ironic since I am technically at home at all times. But I think because I am working at home, weekends have the same appeal to me, maybe more because of the quarantine.

Here are five reasons I actually enjoyed this weekend and am really looking forward to the next weekend despite the lockdown.

I can sleep until 12 pm

I know this lockdown is in place so that we are all safe from the coronavirus. But hey, I just figured since I am all locked up in the house, why not use this time to catch up on some precious sleep? I can’t sleep during the week since I have to log in to work at 10 am every day which means I have to up by at least 9 am. This is why the weekends are still an incentive even while I am working from home at least I can sleep until whatever time without any disturbances (hopefully). Also, waking up and logging into work still means I have to sleep early to catch up on my zzzs so the weekends are important.

I can clean that drawer that has only junk

We all have that one drawer in our rooms where you put things that you don’t know where else to put, right? Yes, the junk drawer. Well, my junk drawer is overflowing now and the only time I have to clean it is over the weekend. Besides, I have put it off for too long so I might as well use this quarantine time to throw out the garbage that I might’ve unknowingly hoarded for far too many years. I was waiting for the weekend to clean and now, I am as excited as Monica would be.

I can finish reading my book

Over the week finding some quiet reading time is tough since I am staring at my computer screen for almost eight hours a day. When we were put under lockdown, I was so excited because now I could finally finish my reading list. Little did I know that just like normal days, I would have to look forward to the weekends to read. So, this weekend, I plan on sitting in my room and finishing my book.

I can just chill without thinking of work

Even during normal days, I would intently wait for the weekends to just have two days with no work stress. Since I am working from home now, that still stands. I can do whatever I want over the weekend with thinking of deadlines, meetings and follow ups. I am so excited to just laze around my house and watch TV all day. It is for this reason that the weekends still hold the same charm as they used to.

I can have a game night with fam

Okay, so this is a new activity that has found its place into my weekend schedules. But since we are locked up in a house together, it is better we host game nights than die of boredom. Usually, I would be chilling with my friends and my parents with theirs (don’t let me fool you, they have a far more thriving social life than I do) so we don’t spend so much time together. But, these game nights have suddenly become our thing and I can’t wait to see who wins this Saturday night.
