This Adult Colouring Book Is Snehal’s New BAE!
You probably think colouring books are only for children. But before you jump the gun, let me tell you that adult colouring books are having a moment in the sun right now (there are even apps for ’em now!). And I’m totally on it.
On the list of things that I thought to be therapeutic, colouring wouldn’t have really featured. Not because I don’t enjoy it, or rather haven’t in the past, but more so because I never associated it with a kind of meditative practice.
As you grow up, you tend to associate meditation with yoga and nothing else, but if you really think about it, repetitive tasks and creative pursuits are kind of meditative as well.
Secret Garden: An Inky Treasure Hunt and Coloring Book
Recently, there have been countless studies on the the benefits of colour therapy and art therapy, and I have to say, from my own personal experience, that I am super excited to have got my hands on the Secret Garden colouring book by Johanna Basford.
Basford’s also the creator of other adult colouring books like Enchanted Forest and Lost Ocean. Besides this lil genius book aka my new fave pastime activity, I also have a beautiful Unicorn colouring book that has nice, happy quotes on every page that are perfect mood lifters.
And since I’ve also suffered from major anxiety in the past, this form of therapeutic task has helped me overcome a lot more than I could ever imagine.
#TBH, other than being a pleasing task, and nice to look at, it’s also an amazing stress-busting activity that I can do with my girlfriends over wine. I mean….how amazing is that for an idea for a girls night in?
