King Charles III was officially crowned as the King of the United Kingdom on May 6 and his coronation concert is set to take place on May 7. Actress Sonam Kapoor is set to perform at the royal musical event at Windsor Castle along with international artists like Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. And we just found out all about her sartorial choices for the big event. The actress will give a spoken word performance at this historical event dressed in a gown designed by Anamika Khanna and Emilia Wickstead.
According to Vogue, Sonam Kapoor will wear a floor-length gown co-designed by Indian designer Anamika Khanna and UK designer Emilia Wickstead. As per the report, the gown will feature a corset bodice and full skirt featuring architectural godet pleats inspired by 17th and 18th-century calico prints. The reason? calico prints were a commodity which was traded between India and the UK during the yesteryears. And guess what? This interesting collaboration between Sonam Kapoor’s favourite designer and the UK-based designer was arranged by the creative director, stylist and a longtime friend of the actress, Nikhil Mansata. Well, we just cannot wait to see Sonam Kapoor glam up, like the diva she is, for the coronation concert and steal the show with her fashion choices and, of course, her performance.

For the unversed, apart from her love for Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Sabyasachi and Ralph & Russo, Sonam Kapoor has always supported and loved the couture of designer Anamika Khanna. This isn’t the first time that she has turned to the designer to dress her up. In 2014, the actress trusted Anamika Khanna to dress her for her appearance at Cannes Film Festival. In fact, she opted for an outfit designed by Anamika Khanna for her wedding reception too.
