Sonam Kapoor Is The Hottest Diwali Party Hostess In New Pics With Husband Anand Ahuja. We Are Living For Her Matha Patti Moment!
Actress, and now mom to son Vayu, Sonam Kapoor brought back her era of fashion, this festival of lights. For the star, this festival was even more special, since it marked the first-ever Diwali for her son. To party with friends and family, Kapoor chose to go all out with her sartorial choices. Remaining close to her niche, which is always being a maximalist, and making smart choices in terms of trends, Sonam relied on her favourite, and close family friend, designer–Anamika Khanna to dress up. Out of the three looks that Sonam sported, two came from the shelves of the celebrated couturier’s label, who is known to mix sass with classics. For Kapoor, the idea of a fabulous festive pick was all about experiments and daring to dazzle in eccentric jewellery.

In new pictures on the actress’ Instagram grid, we spotted her posing with husband/entrepreneur–Anand Ahuja, as a couple, whose fashion choices would be well-appreciated by their son Vayu, in the coming years. For Kapoor, who turned host to her friends for a spectacular Diwali party, had to dress her best. A matha patti moment was a no-brainer, considering the shaadis, she’s missed this year being pregnant. The silk, satin concept saree on Sonam, was a version of Anamika Khanna’s signature taste in couture, which is both asymmetrical, and lustrous.

The modern-day version of this saree was cut in a refreshing format of a draped skirt, attached to a corseted blouse of the same fabric. Bordering this silhouette was tonal thread embroidery, a peaking overlay of lacework, that rested on her shoulders, and loosely-tied pallu. An interesting addition to this saree, was a long, mono-sleeved jacket, which gave a big nod to the semi-sheer trend. Styled by sister Rhea Kapoor and her team, Sonam decided to add a pearl-laden, string matha patti, that did the duties of a crown. To balance the opulence of her head accessory, was a pair of statement, chandelier jhumkas, and finger rings.

For makeup, Sonam decided to match the colours of her attire, which sparked the charm of a festive matte look, heavy contouring, and caramel lips. Kapoor styled her tresses into open curls and picked a pair of off-white juttis, and dainty payal to seal the ensemble. Accompanying these pictures was a caption, explaining the meaning behind the festival of lights–Diwali.
