From Zendaya’s Gowns To Jenna Ortega Channelling Wednesday Core, SAG Red Carpet Was A Treat To Watch

Last night, celebrities from across the globe strutted in the best of couture, at the SAG Awards. The 29th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards was a celebration of colours, cultures and a plethora of fashion trends that have been a big hit on the runway. In attendance were stars–Zendaya, Jennifer Coolidge, Cate Blanchett, Julia Garner, Viola Davis, and more popular personalities who picked designer houses like–YSL and Maison Valentino for the big awards night. While Zendaya’s rare red carpet outing, backed by two significant outfit changes took all the limelight, these 11 other stars made sure to get themselves on our list of best-dressed guests. Take a look.

1. Zendaya

In collaboration with her longtime stylist–Law Roach, Zendaya entered her soft girl era with two impeccable gowns. For the first red carpet appearance, Queen Z picked a Maison Valentino gown, stitched together with tonal, blush pink roses. The custom-made, silk duchess pink bustier gown on Zendaya was adorned with close to 190 floral accents, that spread across the long trailing fabric. With a little train to follow her on the carpet, Zendaya ditched her love for vintage designs, for a fresh, customised look to weave a memorable moment. For jewellery, she turned muse to Bulgari, the name she serves as an ambassador. The delicate, diamond and coral gemstone encrusted piece elevated the empress rose gown, and her tonged short hair bob completed it all in style. For outfit change two, she went the classic way with Giorgio Armani. The form-fitting Armani Prive followed a similar colour scheme, as her Valentino gown, and added some more soft hues like ice blue. Giving the silhouette a more sturdy, strong finish were asymmetrical black hemlines and a strapless bodice. Her fuller lashes were in contrast with her choice of jewellery, which was again picked from Bulgari, but a choker instead.

2. Julia Garner

Unlike most attendees, actress Julia Garner picked a chrome, dusky gown, which was a big nod to the rising trend of mermaid core. A major fabric play was in a mood to steal the limelight. The Gucci silhouette featured multiple fan-esqué details, alongside shell-shaped bust detailing and a crystal rhinestone neckline. Completing the look, Garner’s thigh-high slit gave a peek into her choice of footwear– silver platform heels, and a long train.

3. Viola Davis

Viola Davis was in the mood for a sunny yellow, and it definitely was a hit for us. The structured fall of the gown turned out to be a signature Valentino tailoring. Custom-made by Pierpaolo Piccioli, the neat silhouette featured the classic Valentino wave neckline, with scoop detailing, full sleeves and a little flounce. For accessories Davis, picked two crystal bracelets, and a matching, Valentino clutch to complete the look.

4. Jenna Ortega

Jenna, followed her original Wednesday-core, in a head-to-toe black ensemble. The lustrous latex, leather gown, featured a strapless bodice, a thigh-high slit, adorned with a ruched bow detailing, and linear pleats. The mid-length trail added to her height, and her tennis necklace worked in favour of the gown. For hair, she let her brunette bangs loose and wore light makeup.

5. Paul Mescal

Well, we know the red carpet provided us with many best-dressed men, but Paul grabbed the most eyeballs in his couture blazer. The significantly embroidered silhouette was an indicator of his love for details and added an absurd quirk to a rather boring tux. Designed by Simone Rocha, Mescal exchanged a neatly tailored fabric, for a semi-see-through organza, in the shade of navy blue. The subtle shade layered over a blue shirt stole the show with a dainty crystal appliqué in the centre, teamed with a pair of slim pants.

6. Jennifer Coolidge

Always in her element, actress Jennifer Coolidge gave a spin to her signature collection of gowns, with a striking, old Hollywood glam. The YSL black gown, with a plunging neckline, displayed a well-designed corset bodice, belly-fit detailing, and ruched fabric sides, providing Coolidge with an hourglass shape. She further accessorised the look with dainty wrist accessories, layered over her full sleeves, a matching black hair band to decorate her blonde bouffant, and a tiny black clutch.

7. Cate Blanchett

Like most attendees who wore black to the red carpet, Cate stood out in her sheen sequin gown. Like Zendaya, Cate also chose a custom-made fit by Giorgio Armani, which provided a delicious mix of lace and twinkling sequins. Blanchett’s silhouette featured an elaborate scoop neckline, backed up by a layer of lace fabric and tonal sequins. In contrast with her black ensemble, were her blonde tresses, tonged to give a romantic spin to the gown.

8. Cara Delevingne

Actress Cara Delevingne turned out to be one of our favourite attendees on the list, in her Carolina Herrera gown. Like the ethos of the designer label, which says–”Destination for bold elegance and style,” Cara sported the elaborate black gown, with heavy flounce, two rose accents and a wide neckline. The full-sleeves and taffeta effect on the sides was cinched with a fabric belt, and a solitaire necklace, with red lips to finish the fail-proof look.

9. Michelle Yeoh

Adding two awards in her kitty, actress Michelle Yeoh was another show-stopping guest on the red carpet, in her Schiaparelli gown. The silhouette with a front-panelled fringe detailing in feathered yellow was elegantly combined with a simple black gown. For accessories, Yeoh picked a pair of chandelier earrings, and a moody ponytail to add more drama to her sartorial choice for the evening.

10. Amanda Seyfried

Actress Amanda Seyfried brought schoolgirl, prom glam to the SAG red carpet in her leafy green dress. The Prada dress provided a major moment in green, with a long trailing bow tie-up at the back. The square neckline with noodle straps and an anti-fit look was further styled using a bouffant ponytail, giving the look a barbie-core vibe. For footwear, Amanda stayed safe with a pair of black heels and matching emerald jewellery by Cartier.

11. Eddie Redmayne

The man posing next to my all-time crush–Andrew Garfield, managed to grab the internet’s attention with his big bow shirt. The crisp, white silhouette on Redmayne was a pearl-white satin shirt, with massive armholes and a statement wrap bow. Whipping a classic combination in monochromes, Eddie picked a pair of high-waisted black trousers and smiled his way to our hearts.

12. Ana De Armas

The Blonde star arrived in her very own Louis Vuitton. The sexy neckline, with a form-fitted detail, was a spin on the naked, see-through dress trend. The black, floral overlay featured a two-strap neckline, with bow accents on each, and hair styled into a ponytail. For makeup, Ana matched the look with glittering, smokey eyes and glossy pink lips.
